How many stages are in a sales pipeline? It depends on who you ask.

Note: Many pipelines deviate at the “Pitch and proposal” stage. It’s sometimes broken up into “first contact,” “demo,” and/or “pitch.” For the sake of simplicity, we’re wrapping these all into one stage, as they all interplay with each other in the sale process.

Also, some companies stop the sales pipeline at “Winning the Opportunity” (mistakenly, in our opinion), while others separate onboarding and customer nurturing into separate steps.
