A new Files widget. Collaborative sections. In-line sub-tasks. Simpler commenting. And a whole lot of workspace UX updates. Here's what's new in Dock.

We just made a ton of updates to Dock workspaces that’ll make it much easier to collaborate with your customers in Dock.

If you absolutely don't want to scroll down and see all the shiny new features, here's the TL;DR:

  • Files Widget: Give customers a section to bulk upload files to a workspace
  • Collaborative Sections: Collaborate on text sections with customers in real time — just like a Google Doc
  • Workspace Header: The header design was improved to accommodate smaller screens and show you who's viewing the workspace
  • Pages Navigation: We made the multi-page workspace navigation bar more obvious for your customers
  • Simplified Comments: We overhauled the comment system to make it easier to leave and reply to customer comments in workspaces
  • In-line sub-tasks: You can now add sub-tasks to action plans in-line, without having to click into a task

Files Widget

We’ve introduced a new Files widget — a dedicated section for clients to upload files to a workspace.

Both you and your customers can upload and download files from this widget. This is great for requesting bulk file uploads from customers.

As part of this update, we’ve also introduced a new Files tab on the Internal workspace view, where you can see all the files uploaded to a workspace in one spot.

Collaborative Sections (Beta)

Dock now has collaborative sections. You and your customers can edit text together in real time from the Shared view — just like a Google Doc.

Collaborate on meeting notes, ask your customers to fill out tables or text, and more.

To make a section collaborative, toggle on the “Turn on collaboration” setting from the Editor view.

Note: This feature is still in beta. But it's just the first of many new collaboration features coming to Dock.

New Workspace Header

We beautified the workspace header bar to better accommodate small screens and our new collaboration features.

The Preview button (to preview your workspace edits) is now a play button, and the Publish changes button looks fancier.

On smaller screens, the navigation switches to icons.

The Shared view will now also show all the contacts who are currently looking at the workspace.

I've been loving this feature already. It's really fun to see your customers pop up in the navigation.

New Pages Navigation

Multi-page workspaces have been a big hit, but we got feedback that some clients didn’t notice the tabbed navigation.

We updated the Pages navigation bar to make it more obvious when a workspace has multiple pages.

Easier Commenting

We’ve greatly simplified how comments work in Dock. Now, there’s just one comment thread per workspace section, which makes it easier to follow and link to comment threads.

We’ve also added notification badges in the page navigation, so you can easily jump to where customers left comments.

In-Line Subtasks

Subtasks in your action plans can now be viewed and edited in-line, without needing to click into a task.

Just expand a task to see and edit its subtasks.

With more coming next week...

We launched a bunch of other features that you may have already noticed—like an improved Gong integration, new Slack notifications, two-way syncing CRM fields, custom code embedding, and more.

I didn't want to cram too much excitement into one update, so I'll break down the rest next week.

Excited to hear your feedback!
